arduino, stepper motors, fishing wire, shoes, Webcam, TV
I am talking to myself constructs a mechanical feedback system that merges physical motion and visual output into one looped environment. A pair of shoes, suspended by fishing wire and driven by stepper motors, repeatedly simulates the act of walking in place. A webcam at eye level records this motion and relays the live feed to a television monitor positioned in front of the setup. The system creates a continuous exchange between physical action and its visual return, blurring the boundary between open and closed environments. Human movement is displaced by mechanical repetition yet remains central as a source of reference and autonomy. Within this loop, gesture operates as both input and output, producing a self-sustaining environment where perception, motion, and mediation become inseparable.
feed. feed back. feedback.
