Plastic ribbons

In horizon, thin plastic ribbons are stretched between tree trunks across the landscape. From a distance, the separate ribbons line up into what looks like a single line suspended in the air, a second horizon that quietly shifts the viewer’s sense of depth and orientation.
When the wind passes through, the ribbons tremble and give off a faint, wheezing sound that rises and falls with the air. Up close, the line breaks apart into moving strands; from afar, it holds together. The work sits between these two distances, where what is seen as one line is heard as many small vibrations.
