2026–ongoing
Four-channel moving-image and computational installation with recorded dance performances, generative prompts, virtual navigation, and synchronized projections.
First iteration (2026)
Dance Videography: Jeremy Starn
Dancers: Madeline Spivey, Heidi Pennington from Harrisonburg Dance Cooperative
Thereafter explores how embodied experiences continue beyond the moments in which they occurred, and how agency takes shape through encounters between human and non-human perception.
Two dancers interpret prompts through movement and gesture, expressing convergence and divergence as distinct bodily perspectives. Their recorded performances are brought into relation with a third voice, drift, emerging in real time through computational encounters with changing conditions at distant places.
Across four synchronized screens, the dancers’ movements, changing prompts, and a virtual traveler’s field map unfold together. The relationship among the three voices determines the traveler’s direction, carrying recorded bodily interpretations into an ongoing journey shaped by the present.
Through this exchange, earlier gestures continue to participate in what follows. Thereafter approaches agency as a relationship across bodies, technologies, and time, where the past remains active in the formation of the present.
