Video installation
Two flat monitors, looped video footage

esc is a two-channel video installation that examines motion, repetition, and perception through minimal spatial intervention. Two identical monitors are placed parallel to each other a few feet apart, both facing upward. Each screen displays looping video footage of an escalator’s moving floor panels, filmed from a fixed perspective and synchronized in continuous motion.

The mirrored configuration produces a subtle disorientation: the image seems to extend infinitely between the two screens, suggesting an endless mechanical cycle without departure or arrival. Through this simple yet precise setup, esc transforms an ordinary fragment of urban infrastructure into a meditation on automated movement and perceptual illusion. The work reflects on how repetition in technological systems generates both continuity and confinement, blurring the boundary between escape and enclosure.
